Novotel York Centre has announced 16 new rooms and six suites as part of the hotel’s expansion and renovation project, which is due to be completed this summer.
The new Deluxe rooms and Junior Suites takes the property’s total offering to 146 keys and are located in a 2,500 sqft extension to the hotel overlooking the River Foss.
Junior Suites feature a master bedroom with queen-size bed and separate living room, which Novotel says could appeal to business travellers wishing to host family or friends during their stay. They also feature an in-room coffee machine, working desk, bathrobe and bathroom amenities with three different shower modes.
Meanwhile, Deluxe rooms feature a chaise lounge and queen-size bed, along with a 55-inch TV, USB ports and a mini fridge.
This summer, Novotel plans to unveil a revamped conference space at the property equipped with more than £80,000 worth of new communications technology, including built-in projectors and drop-down screens. Meeting rooms will also be fitted with PA systems and Click Share facilities.
In addition, work is underway to refurbish the hotel’s bar and restaurant, with the re-opening set for June. When completed, the restaurant will feature a terrace overlooking the river, which will be available for summer events.
General manager Kai Ikulayo commented: “Last year, York was the second-most visited city in the UK outside London. Its popularity keeps growing year on year as travellers look for staycations, business travel and destination holidays. This extension is part of our plan to meet the heightened demand from domestic and overseas visitors. We want to offer the ultimate in comfort to all who visit York and this extension and refurbishment will help us do just that.”
The hotel is located near York train station and close to the A19.
