Serviced apartment company Oakwood has announced it will manage two properties within the 2022 Winter Olympics Zhangjiakou Zone in Beijing.
Located within the Sinobo Taizicheng Resort in Hebei Province, Oakwood Suites Chongli (pictured above) is due to open in December 2020. It will feature 118 studio, one and two-bedroom apartments, as well as onsite facilities such as a restaurant with a private dining room, a tea lounge, a lobby bar, a fitness centre, swimming pool and retail options including a ski shop.
Meanwhile, Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Chongli (pictured below) will open in August 2021 in the Taizicheng Village. The property will offer 173 hotel rooms and one-bedroom apartments, with guests having access to a dining area, fitness centre and meeting rooms.
Both properties are being developed in partnership with Sinobo Thaiwoo (Zhangjiakou Chongli) Cultural & Tourism Co.
The Chongli district is a popular skiing destination and will see the region play host to Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics events such as snowboarding, skiing, ski jumping, Nordic combined and biathlon. Travellers can access Zhangjiakou from the main city in less than an hour when a high-speed railway is completed at the end of 2019.
The Taizicheng Resort will also comprise an international convention centre.
Dean Schreiber, interim CEO of Oakwood and MD for Asia Pacific, commented: “Oakwood is privileged to be the selected serviced apartment brand in Sinobo’s Taizicheng master plan – Taizicheng Resort. My team and I are confident that Oakwood will contribute to Sinobo’s plan to promote year-round tourism in the world-class destination of the Chongli District.”
Kee Whye Yeo, co-president of Sinobo Land, added: “In addition to hosting the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, Zhangjiakou City will play an increasingly crucial role in the promotion of local economic, social and environmental developments. With Oakwood’s international success in managing world-class residential spaces, we are confident that Oakwood Suites Chongli and Oakwood Hotel & Apartments Chongli will raise the profile of Taizicheng Resort’s hospitality excellence.”
The company is due to open two other properties under its Suites brand in 2020 in Bangkok and Yokohama.
